Ohio Citizen Action is a statewide grassroots advocacy organization working for clean energy, utility accountability, and the protection of democracy.
Ohio Citizen Action was founded in 1975 on a simple belief: that when everyday people organize together, they can hold powerful institutions accountable and win real change. For more than fifty years, that belief has been proven right, again and again, across Ohio.
Our canvassers go door-to-door not just to inform, but to listen, build trust, and understand what matters most to each community. We boil down complex policy into plain language and create real connection.
We make sure Ohioans have a voice in decisions that affect their lives, their land, and their energy bills. We apply targeted, sustained public pressure using constituent action to force accountability.
When democracy is under pressure nationwide, Ohio is where the fight happens. With 88 counties spanning urban centers, small towns, and farm country, Ohio is a microcosm of the larger struggles over who controls energy, who gets to vote, and who the government actually serves. We know how to work across political lines, build durable coalitions, and win.
Our Mission
Ohio Citizen Action informs, organizes, and mobilizes people to advocate for public interests across issues and campaigns. In person, by phone, and online we engage people in actions that protect public health, improve environmental quality, and benefit consumers. Our campaigns connect Ohioans and build a movement to protect democracy and create a sustainable and equitable future.
